Job Description

What You Will Do:

Provides overall systems engineering and technical leadership for the Airborne Phased Array Radar (APAR) development.  Leads a multidisciplinary team of engineers developing the radar front end and back end technologies as well as airborne radar applications.  Acts as a Subject Matter Expert in Systems Engineering and Phased Array Radar Systems.  Designs, develops, and tests hardware and software systems for the APAR development.  Responsible for leading the APAR team though engineering gates, documentation of engineering plans and methods, issue tracking, and reporting of engineering progress with respect to APAR.  Supports the writing of proposals to secure additional funding for the APAR development.



  • Perform systems engineering tasks for the Airborne Phased Array Radar (APAR) development including: engineering team leadership, architecture and design of subsystems, management of system interfaces, and acting as a subject matter expert in the area of PAR technology.  Leads and directs effort of engineering disciplines associated with the APAR development including radar hardware, software, aeronautical, mechanical, and electrical systems.  Leads and/or provides support through program gates/milestones such as the preliminary design review (PDR), critical design review (CDR), fabrication, testing, and verification of requirements for the APAR system.

  • Produces and revises documentation in support of the overall APAR development.  Reviews and refines all APAR technical requirements including the Technical Requirements Document (TRD). Develops an APAR Systems Engineering Plan. Develops Preliminary Design of overall APAR system. Develops engineering documentation.  Collaborates in the writing of proposals in order to secure funding for APAR developments.

  • Leads the technical development, testing, evaluation, and verification of hardware, software, support equipment and systems for APAR as required.  This includes work on the APAR Active Electrically Scanned Array (AESA) simulator and development of radar back end technologies. 

  • Coordinates and documents the effort of external vendors providing design and feasibility studies for the APAR effort.  Presents at and participates in conferences, meetings, and workshops as required in support of the APAR program.
